Knowledge Graphs as a Backbone for Hybrid AI and Data Management

Prof. Axel Polleres (WU Vienna)

Abstract

This talk first introduces the concept of Knowledge Graphs (KGs), their evolution, and current applications. It then offers an outlook on Prof. Polleres' own research and broader trends where KGs enable Hybrid (Neuro‑Symbolic, Agentic) AI applications and systems that power data understanding and data management. As an application case, the talk will mainly refer to open, collaboratively edited Knowledge Graphs such as Wikidata. Materials from prior talks and presentations are available at polleres.net/presentations.

If helpful, the presentation can be tailored based on the expected audience’s background.
